Lake Desire Fire 7/17/09 (The TV news said fire crackers may have been to blame.) Photo by Xavier Rieder, our King County Parks Rep.

  • Found Orange Cat  - Is anyone missing a cat?  An orange hair, green-eyed cat showed up around our house a few days ago.  It's thin; looks like it's been lost for awhile and got into a tangle with a bigger animal.  It needs its owner back ASAP. Submitted by Karen Walker, thewalkers@hotmail.com, 425-254-1500.  Here is a web site for people looking for cats: http://www.meowcatrescue.org/
  • Fire Photos - Today Patti and I hiked to the top of Echo Mountain to assess the fire damage.  We were pleasantly surprised with what we found.  This could have been so much worse.  Here's a link to a few pixs if you are interested.  http://www.johnwall.com/echomountain/. Submitted by John Wall, john@johnwall.com. Thanks to John for baking some cookies for the firefighters who worked so hard to put the fire out!
  • Emergency Communication Ideas – We are still looking for ideas to develop an urgent/emergency email list for reaching lake residents immediately. One idea is to have two other people also receive/send emails so that if the secretary is not online or out of town, then one of the other two people can help manage communications. We’re thinking 2-3 people can share the communication duty. If anyone is interested, please contact Heather Smith, Heather@smith.net or Dorothy Paun, to.e@comcast.net.
  • Found Keys – I found some keys by the mail boxes on Lake Desire Drive.  Can you pass the word along to the neighborhood to see who may have lost them? Found 7/14/09, three keys on a ring.  Two matching with black plastic heads with "Trimax" imprinted on one side. Contact Craig Muth, cjmuth@comcast.net , 425-793-7181
  • Garden Ideas – I wanted to share this link.  I have been using this free service for quite some time (maybe a year) and I seem to be getting good advice on all sorts of gardening questions and they usually answer within a couple of days. http://www.seattletilth.org/learn/hotline. Submitted by John Wall http://www.johnwall.com
  • Garage Sale - I will be having a Garage Sale of excess furniture (desks, shelves, hutches, cabinets, etc) and other items at my home the last week in July or sometime in August.  Since my husband’s death 2 years ago, I have been organizing my home and hopefully this will be the first of the garage sales I conduct.  Look for my signs up and around the lake announcing it.  Could use some help getting the furniture up to the garage from the basement. People who are interested, may contact me at altercoach@comcast.net. Submitted by Nancy Alter.
  • Loud Music - Please remember this used to be called Echo Lake, and any music played outside is amplified and heard everywhere around the lake. I'm working in my office on E. Lake Desire, with the doors and windows shut, and the music playing near the end of W. Lake Desire is SO LOUD ear plugs won't shut it out. Because of the loud music, I am forced to leave my home office and go elsewhere to work. PLEASE respect your neighbor’s right to peace and quiet. PARENTS be sure to have a conversation with your children if you're not at home during the day. Submitted by Dorothy, to.e@comcast.net.
